After drawing trumps in two rounds many declarers will take the diamond finesse and fail. A better way is to combine chances by testing how the hearts split. If the hearts are 3:2 then declarer can lose just one heart trick by ducking the first round of hearts then throwing the Queen of diamonds on the established heart winner. If the hearts do not behave then there is no alternative but to try the diamond finesse.
